How does this work?

Beautiful Dingbatsโ€™ Fancy Font Generator converts regular characters into Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols. These characters were added to Unicode primarily for mathematicians to write equations.

๐–Š, ๐•–, and ๐“ฎ could mean different things, so itโ€™s crucial the styles stay the same, no matter where they appear.

What is Unicode?

Unicode is the reason the letters Iโ€™ve typed on my keyboard are the same as the letters that youโ€™re reading on your screen now.

Computers only use binary to store and send data; so there is no lowercase k or uppercase W in your computerโ€”just 1s and 0s.

Xbox Text Font

Unicode is a practical agreement to use the same 1s and 0s to mean a lowercase k , an uppercase W , or even ๐Ÿ‘Œ.

k=00000000000000000000000001101011
W=00000000000000000000000001010111
๐Ÿ‘Œ=11110000100111111001000110001100

Without everybody agreeing to these numbers the internet wouldnโ€™t be possible.

Unicode is a dictionary of all these numbers and to which characters they correspond. There are currently 137,439 characters.

Where can I use these fancy fonts?

Pretty much everywhere: social media posts, bios, and commentsโ€”including Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Instagram, and Quoraโ€”email, instant messsages, browser bookmarks, wifi networks, and lots more.

They even show up in Google results.

About the Font Styles

fraktur / blackletter / gothic

Fraktur is a form of Blackletter or Gothic Script. First used to decorate religious texts, including the earliest printed book: the Gutenberg Bible.

It looks great as a heading, but itโ€™s hard to read. Avoid using it in large blocks of text.

๐™ผ๐š˜๐š—๐š˜๐šœ๐š™๐šŠ๐šŒ๐šŽ

monospace / typewriter

Monospaced fonts were created for typewriters โ€” for practical purposes every character needed to be the same width.

Theyโ€™re still used in computer terminals, and code editors, as they align each line of code.

You can also use these characters to create tables and calendars, like in Beautiful Dingbatsโ€™ Calendar Generator

double struck / outlined / blackboard bold

Double Struck is also known as blackboard bold. It originated as an attempt to create bold lettering with chalk on a blackboard.

The style worked its way into mathematical equations. Later it was emulated on typewriters by overlaying the same character twice. Leading to the name double struck.

script / cursive / handwriting

Script is an attempt to recreate cursive handwriting.

Recreating cursive on computer screens is ridiculous. Especially when the letters donโ€™t join up. Use for sad ironic purposes only.

circled / enclosed alphanumerics

Circled or enclosed alphanumerics if youโ€™re fancy โ€” are useful for making bullet points. Also useful when writing about the criminally underfunded NYC metro. e.g. ๐Ÿ…› train.

๐Ÿ†‚๐Ÿ†€๐Ÿ†„๐Ÿ…ฐ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ…ด๐Ÿ…ณ

squared / enclosed alphanumerics

Squared characters have a wide variety of uses.

The first ones were added to unicode for Japanese television stations. They needed symbols for like ๐Ÿ…† for wide format broadcasting, and ๐Ÿ„ฝ for news.

Later Unicode added ๐Ÿ…ฐ ๐Ÿ…ฑ ๐Ÿ…พ and ๐Ÿ†Ž for blood types, ๐Ÿ† for public toilets, and ๐Ÿ…ฟ for parking. These were quickly followed by the rest of the alphabet.

Note โ€” Some of these symbols render as emoji, some of the time.

Text Font Generator

This text font generator allows you to convert normal text into different text fonts that you can copy and paste into Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Twitch, YouTube, Tumblr, Reddit and most other places on the internet. The different text fonts are all a part of the Unicode standard which means that they're not like normal fonts. If they were normal fonts you wouldn't be able to copy and paste them anywhere.

If you're wondering why on Earth it's possible to copy these fonts and paste them in your social media posts, then here's the quick explanation: Unicode is a standards body for the whole international computing industry which works on creating a list of all possible textual characters that should be available on all devices (phones, tablets, computers, ...). Most large companies in the computing industry (Google, Apple, Microsoft, Samsung, Canonical, ...) comply with the Unicode standard or at least some portion of it.

Unicode specifies over 100,000 different characters across hundreds of languages and symbol sets. So rather than each computer company inventing their own set of symbols, they can just use Unicode's set. This essentially means that Unicode symbols work almost everywhere.

But here's where we get back to text fonts: Amongst the thousands of symbols in Unicode is the normal alphabetic symbols (the ones you're reading right now), but also a number of other alphabets which are different in some way. There are also thousands of characters which look like letters from the Latin alphabet, but are really symbols from other symbols sets and languages. Either way, we can pick out all sorts of symbols from the Unicode standard and use them to construct all sorts of novel textual font styles which we can copy and paste.

Here are some text fonts you can generate with this site:

  • ๐–† ๐–’๐–Š๐–‰๐–Ž๐–Š๐–›๐–†๐–‘ ๐–‹๐–”๐–“๐–™ which comes in two different styles.
  • ฮฑ โ“ฆโ’พ๐•–๏ฝ’๏ฝ„ ็ˆชแถคะ– ๐• โ„ฑ ๏ผณะŽ๐ฆะฒฯƒโ“ลž which is generated from hundreds of different Unicode sets.
  • ๐’ถ ๐“ˆ๐“Š๐“…๐‘’๐“‡ ๐’ธ๐“Š๐“‰๐‘’ ๐’ปโ™ก๐“ƒ๐“‰ ๐“Œ๐’พ๐“‰๐’ฝ ๐“ˆโ๐“‚๐‘’ ๐‘’๐“‚๐ŸŒธ๐’ฟ๐’พ๐“ˆ ๐ŸŽ€ - this one replaces all o's with a random heart or flower emoji
  • ๐“ช ๐“ฌ๐“พ๐“ป๐“ผ๐“ฒ๐“ฟ๐“ฎ ๐“ฏ๐“ธ๐“ท๐“ฝ that comes in two different styles (bold and normal)
  • ๐Ÿ…ฐ ๐Ÿ…ฑ๐Ÿ…ป๐Ÿ…พ๐Ÿ…ฒ๐Ÿ…บ๐Ÿ†ˆ ๐Ÿ†ƒ๐Ÿ…ด๐Ÿ†‡๐Ÿ†ƒ ๐Ÿ…ต๐Ÿ…พ๐Ÿ…ฝ๐Ÿ†ƒ

And many, many more.

If you come across other text fonts that I should include in this generator, please let me know! I'll add it to this generator and my other ones which are copies of this (like fancy text generator). The reason there are a few copies is because my analytics showed people where searching for a 'fancy text' type generator with different keywords and Google wasn't showing the correct results.

Copy and Paste

A quick note on copying and pasting Unicode text: Some website actually prevent special unicode characters from showing by 'sanitising' your post (deleteing all wierd characters) before saving your post to the server. This isn't common, but it's worth knowing. If that happens, it's not a problem with this translator, it just means the website doesn't allow special characters. Another thing you might come across when you copy and paste text fonts from this generator is that characters may show up as squares when you paste them. This means that the font which is being used by the website where you pasted the font doesn't support special unicode characters. Again, this is unavoidable :( Unicode is becoming more and more common though, so things are getting better.

And one final note: If you copy and paste the fonts in a messenger program or an SMS/text message, then the recipient may not actually see the characters like you see them. They may see blocks or perhaps nothing at all. Though this is rare, it does happen becomes some devices don't support as much of the Unicode symbol set as yours does.

Thanks for using my text fonts generator! I also made an emoji translator, a wingdings translator, and a glitch text generator which you might like to check out!
